Today, Nikon announced the release of the P7700. A new flagship model for the COOLPIX series and the successor to the P7100, P7700 boasts 1/1.7-inch backside illuminated 12.2 MP CMOS sensor, 7.1x optical zoom lens with maximum aperture of f/2-4, build in lens-shift vibration reduction (VR) and all the manual setting a photographer may require. In addition to P7700, Nikon also announced three other new COOLPIX S-series cameras: S6400, S800c and S01. COOLPIX S6400 is a compact camera featuring 16.0 MP CMOS sensor, 12x optical zoom and 3-inch LCD touch panel. COOLPIX S800c features Android operating system and is WI-FI compatible. Essentially this camera has all the features of Android based smartphone (including Apps) without the phone capability. So now you can take a picture and post it to your Facebook through Wi-Fi, all on your S800c camera. It also features 16MP CMOS sensor and 10x optical zoom NIKKOR lens. And finally COOLPIX S01 is the tiniest camera we have ever seen. At barely over 3in wide and 2in tall, this camera can easily fit in a palm of a hand and fit into virtually any pocket. It features 10.1 MP CCD image sensor, 3x optical zoom and 2.5-inch LCD touch panel display. All of the announced cameras are capable of recording HD video.
COOLPIX P7700 uses fast NIKKOR zoom lens capable of up to 7.1x optical zoom, which translates to 28mm – 200mm on 35mm equivalent cameras and maximum aperture of f/2-4. This means that the camera will retain a good performance in lower lighting conditions with f/2 at wide-angle position and respectively goes to f/4 at maximum zoom. P7700 also features lens-shift vibration reduction (VR), as well as noise reduction, which helps the camera retain good focus and produce high quality images at all zoom levels. Furthermore, it is a macro lens, capable of acquiring sharp focus even as close at 2cm to the subject at wide-angle position.
COOLPIX P7700 has a 1/1.7-inch 12.2 MP CMOS sensor that is fast enough to capture up to 8 frames per second in a continuous burst. It is also equipped with a 3-inch LCD screen with wide viewing angle, which is capable of rotating in virtually 360 degrees, meaning you can take a self-portrait while looking at the screen. Additionally, P7700 supports all manual setting, so you can exercise your creativity with different priority modes and manual settings. Speaking of creativity, it also features several special effects which can be applied by the camera during shooting. And finally, P7700 has a hot shoe and is compatible with numerous accessories, such as external flash units, GPS units and remote cords. COOLPIX P7700 is expected to be available on September 28th, 2012 for $499.95 MSRP.
COOLPIX S6400 is a compact and stylish camera featuring 16.0 MP backside illuminated CMOS image sensor, 10x (25mm -300mm) optical zoom lens and 3-inch LCD touch panel with new user interface. Additionally, the S6400 has a built in Target Finding AF technology which can analyze the scene, automatically determine what exactly in the scene needs to be in focus and maintain the focus on that subject. S6400 also has a variety of quick effects for editing images on the fly. Just choose a desired effect from 30 available and save. Finally, this camera is capable of recording 1080p/30fps HD movies and will be sold in several colors, including red, grey, black, blue and purple (depending on your region). It is expected to be available at the end of September 2012 for $249.95 MSRP.
COOLPIX S800c is a camera built around Android operating system that supports Wi-Fi connection. Basically it’s an Android device with a great lens and sensor but without the phone capabilities (if that makes sense). So now you can take a picture or a video with S800c, get on a Wi-Fi hotspot and post your status update with media to Facebook or Twitter. Yes, you probably have a smartphone that can do all that, but S800c features 16.0 MP CMOS sensor with 10x optical zoom NIKKOR lens, which is equivalent to 25mm to 250mm zoom on 35mm format, as well as built-in lens-shift vibration reduction (VR) function. We have yet to see any smartphone boast those specs. S800c also features 3.5” OLED screen and incorporated GPS module which can record position where the image was taken. Additionally, the camera is compatible with many Android OS applications, including my Picturetown, which lets you upload and share your photos online. Finally, COOLPIX S800c is capable of recording 1080p/30fps HD movies and will be available in two colors (black and white) September 28th, 2012 for $349.95 MSRP.
COOLPIX S01 is a cute little camera, the size of a standard business card. It is portable enough to fit into any pocket or the tiniest purse. It weighs only 3.4 oz (96 g). But don’t let its size fool you. It boasts a 10.1 MP CCD image sensor and a 3x optical zoom NIKKOR lens that can range from 29mm to 87mm (35mm equivalent). And it even has a built-in xenon flash. Additionally, it has an intuitive navigation menu for control and some setting options, accessible by 2.5inch LCD touch panel. Using menus you can also access numerous special effects (which can be applied prior to shooting) and filter effects (which can be applied after the capture). Finally, it can record 720p HD videos and will be available in various colors (red, white, black, metallic and pink) on September 28th, 2012 for $ 179.95 MSRP
