Five new PowerShot cameras announced by Canon

Canon has announced five new compact cameras today at the CES 2015. These are the PowerShot SX530 HS, the PowerShot SX710 HS, the PowerShot SX610 HS, the PowerShot ELPH 170 IS and the PowerShot ELPH 160. The PowerShot cameras build on the reputation already created by older and established cameras in the same line. The PowerShot SX530 HS, the PowerShot SX710 HS and the PowerShot SX610 HS come with zoom ranges of 50x, 30x and 18x respectively, allowing photographers to get ever so close to the subjects they are photographing. These cameras also have improved focusing speeds and better image quality compared to their older cousins. All the three newly launched PowerShot SX cameras have built-in Wi-Fi and NFC connectivity, making it possible to shoot and share images with family and friends a breeze by connecting to a compatible smartphone, tablet or other computing devices. These cameras are compatible with all wireless PictBridge Canon printers as well as the new Canon Connect Station CS100, which is a new Canon offering for easy and secure storage, access and sharing of images and video clips.

Canon’s ELPH cameras have always been popular because of their compact and sleek design and smart features. Convenience as well as features are major factors when deciding on a small camera. The new PowerShot ELPH 170 IS and the PowerShot ELPH 160 have 12x and 8x optical zoom capabilities. Apart from that they also have 720p HD video recording capabilities.

PowerShot SX530 HS

The PowerShot SX530 HS builds on the reputation already created by the very popular PowerShot SX520 HS. The new camera has a 16 megapixel High-Sensitivity CMOS sensor plus Canon’s DIGIC 4+ image processing engine. It also has a 50x optical zoom, which translates into 24-1200mm (35mm format equivalent) and full HD video recording capabilities. Other features include an intelligent optical image stabilization system and a powerful auto-focusing system. Resultantly the camera has exceptional low light performance plus great zoom features for sharp hand-held shots in most lighting conditions. The PowerShot SX530 HS compact digital camera will be available in February 2015 for $429.99 MSRP.

PowerShot SX710 HS

The PowerShot SX710 HS inherits the legacy of the PowerShot SX700 HS and adds Wi-Fi and NFC connectivity to it. The other features of the camera includes 30x optical zoom (35mm format equivalent of 25-750mm), a 20.3 megapixel High-Sensitivity CMOS sensor, DIGIC 6 image processing engine and Canon’s Intelligent Image Stabilization system. Canon’s HS system makes for an exceptional good low light performance. The camera has Zoom Framing Assist feature for faster composing of faster moving subjects at a distance, a full HD video recording feature and a bunch of other features that adds to an already impressive list. The PowerShot SX710 HS compact digital camera will be available in February 2015 for $349.99 MSRP.

PowerShot SX610 HS

The PowerShot SX610 HS packs quite a punch in a small body. This newly launched superzoom camera has a 18x optical zoom range (35mm equivalent of 25-450mm), a 20.2 megapixel CMOS sensor plus Canon’s DIGIC 4+ image processing engine. Canon’s HS system ensures that the camera produces excellent images in low light conditions. It also has Auto Zoom mode. The PowerShot SX610 HS compact digital camera will be available in February 2015 for an estimated retail price of $249.99 in a variety of colors – red, white and black

PowerShot ELPH 170 IS

The PowerShot ELPH 170 IS is a very powerful yet compact camera that boasts a 12x optical zoom (equivalent to 25-300mm), a 20 megapixel CCD sensor and Intelligent Image Stabilization. It also has 720p HD video recording and a smart Auto mode. The PowerShot ELPH 170 IS compact digital camera will be available in February 2015 in blue, silver or black for $149.99 MSRP.

PowerShot ELPH 160

The PowerShot ELPH 160 is an 8x optical zoom camera (35mm format equivalent of 28-224mm) powered by a 20 megapixel CCD sensor. It is a small, stylish and very compact camera that shoots 720 HD video apart from sharp and crisp stills. It also has a Smart Auto mode just like the PowerShot ELPH 170 IS and has digital Image Stabilization. The PowerShot ELPH 160 compact digital camera will be available in February 2015 in black, white, silver and red for $119.99 MSRP.
